I've just discovered Craigslist Search web 2.0 mashup - yet another tool dedicated to "making craigslist the way it should be"
While the "craigslist#2" itself looks like a full-scale classifieds site, it's only goal seems to be in navigating poor old craigslist "the right way" through its advanced features:

-
Zip/Area search.
Enter zip/city and pick radius - Cool... no need to browse 10 craigslist sites to find what you need
-
"Search All Locations" -
all results across the U.S. Wonder how many "Maserati Quattroporte" are for sale in the U.S. ?

-
Images preview -
i like it soooooo much, it's so freaking convenient ! Don't ask me why craigslist doesn't have it...
-
"Contact Poster" button -
right in the listing. "Send Message" opens in a pop up on the same page... Very nice.
-
Neighborhood search -
oh that's nice. Now i can see how many "guitar lessons" teachers are in my town and neighbour areas
-
Seller's Phone # -
seems to be useful for posts with no return emails.
-
Item description -
short 3 lines under each post, right in the listing
-
Categories Tree -
simplier than the original craigslist's - with less categories and less stuff to be frustrated about.
Summary:
Craigslist is the largest local marketplace on earth with hundreds of millions ads posted every day across hundreds of sites.
I like it, I personally buy tons of stuff off of craigslist every month (I am a green design / recycling junkie
and at the same time - I can't stop complaining about it's poor design and lack of usability.
The "craiglook" site seems to be a good fit for buyers who would like to get all pros of craigslist without sacrificing a bit of usability. I really like the design, the features and the fact that the site is free.
Happy browsing ! I really hope you'll find this post useful!

Looks great when I add zip code but when I try to view furniture or other items it reverts back to all over country. Maybe I am doing something wrong?
1I wish they had a "contact us" link somewhere on their site.
I totally love the idea but would like them to add more categories there, especially "personals" and "rants"
